March 3, 2023 — Lauren Hughes, a senior at Owasso High School in Owasso, Oklahoma, is the winner of the 2023 Lenora N. McGregor Endowed Scholarship at Wichita State University.

Feb. 24, 2023 - Libero Lara Uyar, a native of Turkey, discusses the current crisis in her country caused by an earthquake near the border with Syria. Feb. 8, 2023 — Every year, there are roughly 450,000 burn wounds that require clinical care throughout the United States. Of those, more than 3,500 people are fatally injured. An interdisciplinary team of Wichita State University researchers is working to revolutionize burn-wound care with a scaffolding system that prevents infection and promotes healing.

Caroline Tallent

Feb. 6, 2023 - Caroline Tallent started her quest to play college softball with a narrow search. She prioritized her interest in engineering before athletics. Wichita State fits the select number of schools with strong engineering and strong softball. Tallent knew about the school because of basketball, liked the Shocker mascot, and emailed coach Kristi Bredbenner.

Jan. 27, 2023 — Wichita State University has selected the 2023 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend Wichita State University in August 2023.

NSF visit

Jan. 25, 2023 - The director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) visited Wichita State University last week. The Honorable Sethuraman Panchanathan toured Wichita State’s National Institute for Aviation Research, WSU Tech and the National Center for Aviation Training as a guest of U.S. Senator Jerry Moran.

Jan. 13, 2023 — Wichita State University’s efforts to improve vaccine equity are reaching throughout Kansas with the Increase the Reach grant program.

Zhi Wei Won

Dec. 1, 2022 - Zhi Wei Won used her time at Wichita State to work on skills in and out of the classroom. She met new people and expanded her social circle through school activities. Nov. 30, 2022 — After earning his bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in sociology, Daniel Baird plans to attend graduate school, where he will integrate clinical work with the handpan — a sort of convex steel drum that emits calming, hypnotic sounds — which he believes is a powerful therapeutic instrument.

A neutrino detector carried by a nanosatellite in low Earth orbit

Nov. 15, 2022 — Wichita State's Jonathan Folkerts, Jarred Novak and Trent English presented papers on the design of their neutrino detector prototype at the International Astronautical Congress in Paris, representing the NASA-funded Solar Neutrino Orbiting Laboratory Detector Development Project.

Harriet Hamilton

Nov. 2, 2022 — When the COVID-19 pandemic put global supply chains into the spotlight, Wichita State's Harriet Hamilton paid attention as the production and movement of items fluctuated. She watched the business world change and decided to study the new landscape, aided by an extra year of eligibility granted to all student-athletes by the NCAA due to the pandemic.

Oct. 21, 2022 - Andrew Stockmann, a 2020 Wichita State University graduate and sport management major, is in his second year hosting “Hallowed Ground: The Sports Museum Podcast.”

Oct. 20, 2022 — The FirePoint Innovations Center at Wichita State University wrapped up the second year of its Future Innovators Program, an engineering internship opportunity that provides some of America’s brightest engineers from historically under-represented communities the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and programs that directly support the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Center and the Department of Defense.
